Microsclerotherapy is a safe and affordable method of combating small reticular veins and telangiectasias (vascular "stars") of the lower extremities, using injections.
During the sclerotherapy procedure, the active substance (sclerosant) is injected into the lumen of the vein with a fine needle. The size of the needle is selected individually, according to the size of the changed vein. For microsclerotherapy of telangiectasias and reticular veins, needles with a diameter of 0.23-0.3 mm are mostly used. The procedure is practically painless. As a rule, patients feel only minor discomfort and tingling. The duration of the procedure is from 20 to 60 minutes. At the end of the procedure, elastic bandages or compression stockings are applied to the limb. The duration of compression (wearing stockings) is about two weeks. In one procedure, it is possible to achieve the disappearance of 50-80% of changed blood vessels. The number of sessions depends on the initial state.
