Why does acne appear?

The mechanism of occurrence and pathogenesis of acne are complex and not fully understood. However, some external and internal factors are known that will contribute to the aggravation and malfunction of the sebaceous glands. In particular, such as:

  • consumption of products with a high glycemic index (dairy products, sweets);
  • improper care (use of occlusive, comedogenic means);
  • hormonal disorders;
  • stress;
  • wearing synthetic clothes; medication (steroids, lithium preparations, some antiepileptic drugs).

Acne affects areas of the body where the largest concentration of sebaceous glands is the face, back, décolleté, neck, and shoulders.
Acne is a clinical diagnosis, i.e., in order to establish it, a dermatologist only needs to ask the patient and examine the skin. At the same time, in some cases, additional examinations are required to identify or exclude internal disorders that can be triggers of rashes.

Acne treatment!

Acne is not treated with injections, vaccines and cleanings. To normalize the work of the sebaceous gland, the best agents are considered to be retinoids — derivatives of vitamin A. The first line of therapy is:

  • topical retinoids;
  • fixed combinations of retinoids with an antibiotic or benzoyl peroxide;
  • acids (azelaic, salicylic);
  • low doses of systemic antibiotics;
  • systemic retinoids.
