What is seborrheic keratosis?

Seborrheic keratosisis a benign neoplasm, probably of a hereditary nature, which occur mainly on people after 40 years of age, but also occur at a young age. Diagnostic methods of seborrheic keratosis are clinical and dermatoscopic examination.

The main reasons of  seborrheic keratosis:

  • genetic predisposition;
  • age changes;
  • exposure to UV radiation (excessive insolation).

The main symptoms of  seborrheic keratosis:

  • itching;
  • burning;
  • discomfort;
  • discomfort;
  • bleeding as a result of damage.

The main signs of  seborrheic keratosis:

  • brown spots;
  • oval or mushroom-shaped plaques;
  • layering on the surface of a spot of crusts (hyperkeratosis);
  • damage to open areas of the body;
  • spreading under the action of UV radiation;
  • slow growth;
  • sizefrom a couple of mm. up to a few cm.

If you suspect such formations on the surface of the skin, you should consult a dermatologist as soon as possible, because if you remove the keratosis at an early stage (before its enlargement and keratinization), there are almost no traces on the skin.

Nowadays, there are several effective ways to remove keratosis, namely:

  • cryodestruction; 
  • electrocoagulation.
