Causes of acne

The most typical location of teenage acne is the areas of the skin with the largest number of sebaceous glands, namely: the face, chest and back. Acne rash can be minor or significantly affect the skin, up to the formation of nodules and abscesses. After such severe forms of teenage acne, "dimpled" scars, similar to chicken pox, usually remain.

People who come into contact with machine oils and petroleum products often suffer from acne. Acne can appear after taking some medications, namely: lithium salts, corticosteroids (including for external use) and oral contraceptives.

The provoking factors of vulgar acne can be various endocrine disorders, emotional overload, squeezing the skin (the habit of supporting the face with a hand or pressing the telephone receiver) - a reason that is often overlooked. No food products (chocolate, butter, fatty food) are the cause of acne. Exacerbations of the disease are observed in autumn and winter, as well as before the onset of menstruation in women.

Also, one of the main causes of acne is a violation of the functions of the sebaceous gland, which in turn provokes excessive secretion of sebum, which actually creates the most common signs of problem skin such as:

  • enlarged pores;
  • greasy shine;
  • inflammatory red pimples and such hateful white ones.

Acne treatment

When contacting a dermatologist, the stage and severity of acne manifestations are established, in order to further treat it (the duration of treatment depends on the stage and the patient's compliance with all the doctor's recommendations). If necessary, the patient is referred to related specialists, procedures and care programs are recommended to improve the skin with acne manifestations.

Treatment of acne is a rather long and difficult process. External (ointments, creams) and systemic drugs are used in combination with cosmetology procedures (scrubs, cleanings, peelings). In some cases, correction of the hormonal background is carried out.

According to indications, in the modern treatment of acne, external therapy uses: benzoyl peroxide, azelaic acid, retinoids and antibiotics.

Local therapy of acne is carried out for mild forms of the disease or in combination with systemic drugs (antibiotics, retinoids, corticosteroids) for severe manifestations. Often, when carrying out systemic and local treatment, it is recommended to combine it with cosmetology procedures (scrubs, cleanings, peelings). In some cases, correction of the hormonal background is carried out. We can offer, if necessary, laser treatment, which, together with local and systemic methods of treatment, allows us to achieve the best results both in the period of exacerbation and during the formation of a postacne scar on the skin.

Post-acne scars are well handled by peelings, which can be used to even out the relief of the skin and remove uneven color (performed only in the cold season, and selected by a cosmetologist during a consultation).

Acne is one of the most common complaints of patients when they see a dermatologist/cosmetologist. However, acne is not always associated only with an aesthetic defect on the skin. Most often, the problem of acne is caused by internal failures of the body, which, in turn, try to call for help, showing it with pimples on the face.
