So, uterine myoma (other names: leiomyoma or uterine fibroma) is a benign tumor of the uterus. Fibroids are often multiple. There are several types of fibroids, which are distinguished depending on their location:

  1. Subserous is formed on the outer membrane of the uterus, which separates this organ from other organs and systems.
  2. Intramural is formed inside the muscle layer of the body of the uterus.
  3. Submucous develops inside the uterus, under the mucous membrane, has an exit into its lumen

Nodular myoma of the uterus: causes

  • Hormonal imbalance. Most doctors agree that the main trigger for the formation of a benign uterine tumor (myoma) is a hormonal imbalance. In favor of this statement, the fact that myoma is never diagnosed in girls who have not reached puberty (not yet having critical days) speaks for it.
  • Childbirth and abortions. When examining the patient's hormonal status, the age at which menstruation began, the number of successful births and abortions, and the lactation period must be taken into account. Women who have not given birth have a significantly higher risk of uterine fibroids.
  • This factor is also related to hormone levels. After all, in obese women, the level of female hormones is much higher, in order to prevent weight gain, it is worth including more vegetables and fruits, fermented milk products, and cereals in your diet.
  • Irregular sex life. Sex stimulates blood flow to the genitals. If as a result of sexual intercourse, a woman does not reach orgasm, the tension in the blood vessels does not disappear, blood stagnates in the pelvic organs after coitus, causing unpleasant sensations. Frequent lack of orgasm can cause hormonal imbalance, and as a result, the formation of uterine fibroids.

In addition, the following factors can provoke the formation of a benign tumor of the uterus:

  • diabetes;
  • hypertension;
  • inflammatory diseases of the genital organs;
  • adenomyosis;
  • heredity;
  • chronic stress, which negatively affects the work of the thyroid gland, which produces most of the sex hormones;
  • untimely removal of the spiral from the uterine cavity (more than 5 years).

Myoma of the uterus: symptoms

The main danger of uterine myoma is that the neoplasm of small sizes has no symptoms. The clinical picture appears only when the size of the tumor increases. Typical signs include:

  • dull, aching pain in the lower abdomen, not associated with critical days, heaviness in the lower abdomen;
  • violation of the menstrual cycle: too intense bleeding, cycle irregularity, delays, prolongation of the cycle, bleeding in the middle of the cycle;
  • anemia;
  • increase in abdominal circumference;
  • infertility;
  • frequent calls to the toilet, constipation (this occurs due to compression of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary system).

Treatment of uterine fibroids without surgery

If the patient is of childbearing age, namely, the neoplasm is small in size and does not show signs of progression for a long time, conservative treatment of uterine fibroids with the help of hormonal drugs can be used.

If conservative therapy is ineffective, surgical correction is used: laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, laparotomy, uterine artery embolization.

Complications of uterine fibroids

The most serious complication is the transformation of a fibroid into a malignant tumor (it happens quite rarely, but such a development is possible).

Other possible complications:

  • twisting of the subserous node on the leg;
  • uterine bleeding;
  • node necrosis.
  • In such cases, an emergency (urgent) laparotomy is necessary.
