What does digital trichoscopy show?

Trichoscopy is a modern non-invasive digital method for examining the condition of the skin of the scalp and hair. During trichoscopy, a doctor can determine the following indicators and compare them with norms:

• the number of hair follicles per cm2;
• the condition of hair follicle openings;
• signs of skin inflammation and inflammation within hair follicles;
• the ratio of terminal and vellus hairs;
• activity of sebaceous glands;
• the condition of the hair shaft.

• Wash your head one day before the trichoscopy.
• On the day of the examination, avoid using hair cosmetics (mousses, gels, sprays).

The indications for performing trichoscopy include:

• Excessive hair loss
• Rashes on the scalp
• Itching, burning sensation on the scalp
• Presence of dandruff, flakes, or crusts on the scalp surface
• Areas of hair loss
• Areas of hair thinning
• Slowed hair growth on the head
• Fragility, dryness, dullness of hair.

After trichoscopy, the images are stored in the computer's memory for monitoring the treatment's progress. The final stage of trichoscopy is automated and involves processing information and compiling a report on the client's hair and scalp condition. Based on data analysis, the doctor makes a preliminary diagnosis and, if necessary, prescribes additional laboratory tests (complete blood count, biochemical analysis, etc.).

During trichoscopy, there is no radiation or mechanical impact on the scalp, so trichoscopy has no contraindications. It can be performed on children, pregnant women. As prescribed by the doctor, trichoscopy can be repeated without limitation on the number of sessions.
